December can be a very stressful time of the year. Stress has been linked to everything from headaches and high blood pressure to weight gain and depression. One great way to reduce stress is to exercise! O.k., o.k., I know what you are thinking. Exercise? When? Who has the time with all the holiday parties, shopping, decorating, and baking? Besides, I am so busy doing all this holiday stuff that I am already getting all the exercise I need. The answer is in when and what type of exercise. Getting to the gym or taking a yoga or tai chi class may just be the way to get in some exercise and get away from it all. Still can't make the time? Deep diaphragmatic breathing performed several times a day can be of some help to promote relaxation. Hope your holidays are joyful and not stressful. Have a wonderful holiday season! Happy Holidays from Rochester Sports and Physical Therapy!
